This letter is being sent to all the members of RSIG in an attempt to be proactive in regard to proposed federal legislation that, if passed will have a direct and what we believe to be a devastating effect on our industry and your livelihood.
What can we do as an organization?
Make our voices heard.
Who will listen that matters?
Members of the four committees responsible for advancing these devastating bills and we encourage you to reach out to your individual representatives to voice your concerns as well.
This is where you come in; we are attaching contact lists for members of the House and Senate and have indicated if they participate in any of the committees reviewing these pieces of legislation.
Although several of these bills are not out of committee, we cannot wait, we must take action. HR6800, The Heroes Act was passed by the House and is waiting review in the Senate. While it is speculated it will not be approved by the Senate or signed by the President, the industry’s concerns need to be heard.
We are providing another letter to share with your Senator about HR6800 specifically and then another that is more generic addressing any sort of collection moratoriums. This more generic letter can be used for the House or Senate with any bill that proposes the stoppage of the collection of debt. We encourage you to send these notices immediately.
We have also been told that when a representative receives at least 10 calls, letter or emails about an issue, that is when they stop and take notice. So it is important to get your voices heard and encourage family members, employees, family members of employees to get involved as well!
